Terms of Service

1. General Information
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the contractual relationship between Aurora Hotel (“the Hotel”) and the guest (“the Guest”). By making a reservation through our website, third-party platforms, or via telephone, the Guest agrees to be bound by these Terms. The Hotel reserves the right to update these Terms without prior notice. The current version will always be available at our reception and on our official website.
All prices are quoted in Icelandic Króna (ISK) unless otherwise stated. VAT (currently 11% for accommodation) is included in the price. Any changes in government taxes will be reflected in the final balance.
2. Reservations and Payments
- Guarantee: A valid credit or debit card is required to secure all bookings.
- Pre-authorization: The Hotel reserves the right to pre-authorize the provided credit card for the total amount of the stay plus a security buffer for incidentals prior to arrival.
- Payment: Depending on the rate type (e.g., Non-Refundable vs. Flexible), full payment may be processed at the time of booking or upon arrival.
- Identification: Upon check-in, the Guest must present a valid government-issued photo ID (Passport or National ID card) and the physical credit card used for the booking.
3. Check-in and Check-out
- Check-in: From 14:00 (14:00 GMT).
- Check-out: By 12:00 (12:00 GMT).
- Adjustments: Requests for early check-in or late check-out are subject to availability. A fee equal to 50% of the nightly rate may apply for late check-outs until 16:00; stays beyond 16:00 will be charged as a full night.
4. Cancellation and No-Show Policy
- Standard Policy: Cancellations must be received at least 24 hours prior to the arrival date (local time). Failure to do so will result in a charge equivalent to the first night’s stay or the full reservation amount, depending on the specific rate booked.
- No-Show: In the event of a no-show, the Hotel will charge the total amount of the reservation and release the room for the remainder of the booking period.
- Non-Refundable Rates: Bookings made under "Non-Refundable" terms are not eligible for refunds or modifications regardless of the cancellation timing.
5. Group Bookings
Reservations of six (6) or more rooms are classified as "Group Bookings." These are subject to different deposit and cancellation schedules. Please contact reception@aurorahotel.is for a formal group contract. The Hotel reserves the right to cancel multiple individual bookings made by the same party that aggregate to a group without a group contract.
6. Children, Cots, and Extra Beds
- Policy: Children under 5 stay free of charge using existing bedding.
- Cots: Available upon request and subject to availability. Maximum one (1) cot per room.
- Age Limits: Guests aged 5 and older are charged at adult rates.
- Extra Beds: The Hotel does not provide rollaway or extra beds for adults.
7. Parking and Transportation
- Availability: Parking is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed unless pre-confirmed in writing.
- Long-Term Parking: Guests requiring long-term parking (e.g., during travel) must arrange this in advance via
reception@aurorahotel.is. Additional fees apply. - Liability: The Hotel assumes no liability for theft or damage to vehicles parked on the premises.
8. Guest Responsibilities and Conduct
- Smoking: Aurora Hotel is a 100% non-smoking facility. This includes balconies and windows. A minimum cleaning fee of 45,000 ISK will be charged to any guest found smoking indoors.
- Damages: Guests are liable for any damage caused to the room or hotel property. Charges will be applied to the credit card on file.
- Noise and Nuisance: Quiet hours are observed from 22:00 to 07:00. The Hotel reserves the right to evict any guest causing a disturbance without a refund.
- Pets: Pets are not permitted unless they are certified service animals with prior notification.
9. Liability and Safety
- Personal Property: Safe deposit boxes are provided in-room (or at reception). The Hotel is not responsible for the loss or theft of valuables.
- Travel Disruptions: The Hotel is not liable for costs associated with missed flights, weather-related travel delays, or external tour cancellations. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance.
- Safety: Guests must adhere to fire safety regulations and emergency exit protocols displayed in the rooms.
10. Right of Refusal
The Hotel reserves the right to refuse service or remove a guest from the premises if they are under the influence of illegal substances, behave in a threatening manner toward staff or other guests, or fail to comply with these Terms.
11. Force Majeure and Governing Law
The Hotel is not liable for failure to perform its obligations if such failure is the result of Acts of God (including volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and extreme weather), strikes, or government restrictions.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any disputes shall be settled in the District Court of Reykjanes.
